After many long years of planning, meetings, and set-backs, the time has finally come. This next year will be an interesting one for the Alpha Fire Company. And things around 40 E. King Street are going to start looking a bit different very soon. We have a tough year of adjusting to temporary quarters while our building undergoes this rebirth. The membership have put in countless hours packing up over 125+ years of history that has accumulated around the station. Being sure to preserve the heritage of our fine department. Many of these items will be interwoven into the design and decor of the new station. From items to be included in display cases, all the way to our McShane Bell from the bell tower. That bell is currently out getting a full restoration to bring it back to it's original brilliance and will be proudly placed atop the new station further linking the past with the present.
We are having a Ground Breaking Ceremony on Monday, March 19th @ 1pm and everyone is invited. The program will be rain or shine, and demolition is slated to start the next day. We would love to see all of you there to help us celebrate this huge accomplishment.
