On March 2, 2024 Alpha Fire Co. will place into service a 2023 KME Eliminator Tanker. Tanker 20 is built on a Freightliner 114SD chassis and is powered by a Detroit DD13 505 HP engine. The unit features an Allison 4500 EVS automatic transmission, 20,000 lb front axle, 46,000 lb tandem rear axle, and a Hendrickson Haulmaax rear suspension. Lighting is provided by Whelen emergency lighting, Whelen side and rear scene lights, and a HiViz Firetech brow light. A Hale DSD-125 1250 gpm pump is supplied by a 3000 gallon Poly Tank with front and rear tank-to-pump valves. A Fire Research Pressure Governor, Akron Valves, Class One gauges, Trident Automatic Air Primer, Fire Research Tank Level Indicators, three Newton 10” square dumps, and Firemen’s Friend direct tank fills round out the package. Two crosslays and a TFT Blitzfire monitor are available for firefighting. Tanker 20 carries two Husky aluminum Leading Edge folding tanks. These tanks convert from a square 3000 gallon tank to a “single lane” 1900 gallon tank. They are also designed specifically for ‘through the drain’ drafting. The unit also carries two SCOTT SCBA, various TFT water supply valves and 5” supply line.

The new tanker replaces a 1989 Pierce 2500 gallon engine tanker that is now in service at Oak Township Fire Department in Mineola, Iowa. Alpha Fire Company would like to thank the membership and the community for your continued support. We would also like to thank Fire Rescue Products, Water Supply Innovations, and The Firestore for their help on this project.
